RIVIERA MAYA
Location & getting there:
The Riviera Maya is an area of 123km from South of Cancun until Tulum. It sounds beatiful but it can be complicated. To start with, many of the locations have names just on the map, but there were not inhabited... other locations have changed location... like Akumal, before people were facing the ocean... now there are far away, in the middle of the jungle.
So, if you are going to the Riviera Maya, good, but where exactly? mmm, just in case I wrote down the most popular places, then you can look in my Googlemap (guys, it took me 4 hours and I bet my bottom dollar that you will find it very, very good. it is not B.S. : )

Ambience:
It is according to your hotel... but relax, it is easy going!
Ideal for:
Families, adults, singles, ecologist, philophers, etc. The Riviera Maya has an atmosphere that will please every taste.
Not ideal for:
I have no idea...
Things to do:
- Just relax on the beach
- Snorkeling /diving in the ocean or in sinkholes (cenotes)
- Trying the very, very, very exclusive hotel$$$.
- Relaxing in a cabana (bungalow), kind of ecologist.
- Being ecologist in a deluxe hotel.
- Party like crazy in Playa del Carmen.
- Being hippie in Tulum.
- Being and adult in a "only adults hotel".
- Just relaxing in al all inclusive hotel
- Enjoying Xcaret, Xel Ha, etc.
- Whatever : )

Shopping:
Go to the cities, but you can also find handcrats shops on the highway. They are many!!!
Food:
Again, it is depending of where you stay. On the road (remember than everything is on the highway Cancun Tulum) you can even find Seven Eleven and the Mexican versions like Oxxo.
Diving:
Try the cenotes (sinkholes) there are many around.
Transportation:
There are buses that will take you from city to city, very cheap and will regular times. But better take the "colectivos" which are vans that run along the highway. Taxis can be found, just consider the price.
Beach conditions:
You can find everything, beautiful beaches, rocky ones, with seagrass, perfect for snorkeling, etc. You can even find little inlets, but for this "discovery tour" you should rent a car.
Really, consider looking at the map I made on Googlemaps, I put, I think, almost everything!
