Location & getting there:
It is a very small and lovely island which is located in front of Chiquilá, transportation can take two hours, but it is worth it! Please, look at the Googlemap, I added the piers and location. It is accurate.
Ambience: Very, very relaxed. If you have someone to go with go ahead, also good for making friends there. It is a great place to meditate. There is a mixture of many people but it is mostly hippie, relaxed, as the dress code.
Ideal for:
Honey mooners, couples and families, writers, philosophers and everybody that wants to disconect from a computer. Nature and meditation are a plus here.
Not ideal for:
People who look for city activities, before Holbox was very basic, but now you have very comfortable hotels. Anyways, Holbox is not ideal for people who look for extreme luxe.
Things to do:
A very small fishermen village, few services. very good prices. You will meet people who like the New Age, hippie, alternative, and so many other similar life styles. Holbox is also loved for ecologists, poets, writers.
Do not forget to watch the whale sharks and other sea animals like flamingoes, turtles, etc. Holbox it is privileged in this.
Shopping:
Forget it. Very few things, do your shopping back home or in Cancun.

Seafood of course! specially lobster!

From Cancun, Give yourself a favor and ask for a transportation on line. You do not want to stay long hours after your arrive to arrange how to get here.
